The story starts with a fossil in the garden that pulls your child, quite politely, back through time. They land in a soft green valley where the ferns are taller than trees and the ground shakes gently every few pages with something enormous walking past.

The middle of the book is a series of small encounters — a brachiosaurus who lowers her head to say hello, a nest of tiny triceratops learning to walk, a stegosaurus who lets your child ride on the smooth part of the back.
